Job Title : Senior Engineer, Process Automation~Process Automation Team - Habshan
JOB PURPOSE :
Review, study, supervise, and provide operational, technical and engineering expertise on Process Automation to Operations, Technical and Projects Divisions to ensure 100% HSE, high reliability, performance, profitability and efficiency of the Company s operations and consistent application of engineering standards in the development of projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Review, study and provide Technical & Engineering expertise in the field of Process Automation covering Base Layer Process Control, Control Loop Performance Assessment, Advanced Process Control, Real Time optimization, Alarm Management System, Digitalization and Automation.
• Review and recommend, on a periodic basis, improvements to Process Automation policies and facilitate the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of process automation activity at the Site so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
• Monitor and audit the performance of existing process automation applications & systems in terms of uptime, performance, monetary benefits, standardization, obsolescence and establishing vendor support for continuous availability and apply judicious analysis of various alternatives to arrive at optimum solutions for effectively support the Company s operations.
• Lead economic feasibility studies to evaluate financial and technical viability of applications.
• Lead the implementation of approved projects including Scope of work, Tender documents, Technical Bid evaluation, Engineering, installation commissioning and future upgrades.
• Support the Procurement Division in technical Pre-Qualification of Vendors (services and products) and Contractors.
• Lead the development of functional specifications, design and as-built documentation, user manuals, training materials and maintenance procedures for the existing applications.
• Conduct Knowledge sharing sessions and trainings and contribute to the overall sustenance of the process automation solutions.
Supervision
• Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
• Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective functional objectives.
Budgets
• Provide input for preparation of the functional budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver functional objectives.
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
• Implement approved Section / Team / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
• Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the function in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best Industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports
• Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal
• Regular work related contacts with the concerned Team Leader and Department Manager as required, peer professional staff and team members on matters related to Team Policies and Processes, People, HSE and domain specific issues.
• Regular contacts with operations, process engineering and maintenance teams for providing guidance on process automation related matters.
• Regular contacts with counterparts from other Sites and TE Division on work related matters.
• Regular contacts with Business IT at the Site for all interface activities between Operational Technology Network and IT Network as per the approved security standards and best practices.
External
• Regular contacts with Consultants, Contractors and Vendors for coordination of projects engineering works on all phases of the project.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualification
• Bachelor Degree in Chemical/Petrochemical/Process Control Engineering .
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
• 8 years of experience in the field of process control & optimization, within the Oil & Gas Industry.
• Solid knowledge about process control & optimization and process automation systems such as DCS, BLPC, APC, RTO, AMS etc.
• Implemented at least 2 RTO and 4 APC projects and led Alarm Rationalization and Suppression Activities.
• Sound knowledge and experience in the development, reviews, and execution of process control/automation technical standards and procedures relevant to Oil & Gas industry.
• Good knowledge of relevant national as well as international regulations and standards.
• Knowledge of latest technological developments and their implications on business in view of the variety of process/DCS/ICS control applications.
• Background in Oil & Gas EPC or Process Control/Automation vendors.
• Extensive knowledge of guidelines and specifications for Process Control in the FEED phase.
• Good knowledge of HSE principles and their application relevant to Oil & Gas Industry.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills to interact with team members, customers, management and support personnel .
