Directs and implements an organization’s research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives. Ensures research and development activities will maintain an organization’s competitive position and profitability. Consults with top management, sales department and research and development team and makes recommendations based on research findings and product performance. May require an advanced degree or certification for ISO knowledge. Typically reports to top management. Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops policies and procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the ISO, NEBOSH, and Human Resource managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.

- Must have general knowledge of environmental health and safety legislation and regulations
- Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments
- Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products; excel, powerpoint, word, and publisher
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language
- Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
- Pro-active personality and curious mind
- Inquisitive disposition to learn
- The ability to analyze and solve problems
- Possess excellent communication skills and team working ability at all levels
