A GC-MS/Perfume Analyst to support our fabulous Fine Fragrances and Fragrances Consumer Products Development team for South Asia, Middle East, and Africa (SAMEA) region, and based in our Dubai office - Your future position?

Our GC-MS/Perfume Analysis team provides critical analytical support for our Fine Fragrances and Fragrances Consumer Products Development team for – a) Product development and improvement b) Troubleshooting Fragrances formulation c) Competitor analysis, to help Givaudan maintain a competitive edge and continue to develop winning, breath-taking, and high-quality Fragrances.

We are currently looking to hire a ‘GC-MS/Perfume Analyst’ for the team. In this role, you will provide critical analytical support for our Fine Fragrances and Fragrances Consumer Products Development teams for key markets in South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa (SAMEA). You will also run the analytical laboratory and responsible for GC-MS instrument maintenance, safety procedures, SOP’s, and supplies. Based in our Dubai Media City office and reporting into the Regional Fragrances Technology Head for SAMEA, the role will offer excellent opportunities for both personal and professional development.

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for:

• Interact with requesters and management to define project priorities and analytical needs.
• Perform analysis of Perfume in market products including sample preparation, data treatment, and analytical schema transcription.
• Carry out data treatment using software and specific analytical databases.
• Translate analysis into a schema for perfumers.
• Assess the consistency of results, write reports, and share these with requesters.
• Utilise available IT applications and tools to manage requests and record results in databases.
• Perform preventive maintenance of chromatographic equipment’s to ensure the reliability of results.
• Interact with the wider analytical network in Givaudan and the industry to stay up-to-date with standard protocols and industry best practices.

Your professional profile includes:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant work experience in Fragrances laboratory analysis using the GC-MS technique with experience in using chemometric tools for interpretation of analytical results. Additional knowledge of GC-FID will be advantageous.
• Good knowledge and passion for the world of fragrances with competent olfactory ability will be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of fragrance raw materials and composition of essential oils is mandatory.
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in the English language. Additional proficiency in French will be a plus.
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using common PC applications.
• Knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).
• A flexible team player.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to details.
