Design Engineer

Job Purpose:

To manage and prepare complete shop drawings and work orders related to Aluminium and glazing work from client approval to use the same drawings in line with production and installation. You will be fully responsible for the completion of projects.

Principle Accountabilities:

1. To review the structural and architectural drawings and prepare detailed engineering drawings for aluminium and glazing works of the projects in accordance with the complete scope of work as per BOQ and specification.

2. Make sure that structural checks are done with Structural Department for all related details (e.g. aluminium numbers, glass brackets etc).

3. Identify additional work/variations to the Snr Designer/Technical Manager for processing/approval of the variation order by Project Manager.

4. To ensure that the approvals of drawings and sample materials obtained as per specified time scales of the programme.

5. Responsible for pre-ordering of all materials in co-ordination with Design Engineer (i.e releasing the related information to Allocation Department) in time to meet the project programme.

6. Provide leadership and manage the four team members in a professional manner e.g. allocation of work, providing guidelines to them in drafting tom maintain the quality, improving productivity, checking drawings and cutting list profiles etc.

7. Attending to design meetings/co-ordination meetings as well as preparing notes for records to ensure all are aware of current progress.
