Job Description and Requirements
JOB SUMMARY: Quality Control Supervisor to perform a wide variety of inspection and quality control operations e.g. visual, dimensional, functional and non-destructive techniques, to make necessary critical observations, tests, or completing appropriate documentation as required for all coating and liner applications on line pipes, drill pipes, tubing, casing and custom pieces as directed; in accordance with NOV Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedures, customer specifications and International Standards. Reports to Regional Quality Supervisor. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Functions as the Facility QC Supervisor for the Blast, Prime, Powder or Liquid Coating Stations
Functions as the Facility QC Supervisor for the TK-Liner Installation and Site running
Supervises and Checks Inspections of the Blast, Prime, Powder or Liquid Coating Application as Per the NOV Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedure
Supervises and Checks Inspections of the TK-Liner Installation Process as Per the NOV Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedure.
Are responsible for the training of all Final Inspectors as to the use of various gages and measuring instruments, also the correct inspection techniques and methods used at a particular inspection station to determine compliance of the product.
Are responsible for directing the efforts of the Final Inspectors and assisting in the resolution of quality problems, including communicating effectively with Coating and Lining personnel.
Must be able to interpret results from inspections and make determinations regarding product disposition based on company SOPs, Policies and product condition.
Are responsible for consolidating all inspection data on a daily basis for non-conformance reporting. This data is reported to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and is the basis for monitoring quality improvements.
Are responsible for maintaining the calibration of all gages and instruments utilized to qualify products and processes.
Are responsible for maintaining the calibration documentation, whether hard copy or computer records. Records shall include certificates furnished for contracted calibration services.
Will use both simple and complex precision instruments and equipment in the calibration of gages and instruments used for inspection purposes. Calibrations are preformed based on predetermined time schedules or usage rates as defined in the gage/instrument calibration program.
Will be responsible for the scheduling of the periodic contracted calibrations of various gages and instruments.
Must be capable of preforming diagnostic work and repairing most of the gage and instruments in his/her care.
Will verify dimensional compliance of end flanges and O-rings in accordance with receiving inspection criteria and procedures.
Will be responsible for coordinating, completing and submitting quarterly coating samples.
Informs the Coating Superintendent or his designee of any disturbance or irregularities in the production flow occurs
Prepare and coordinate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for nonconforming pipes and pieces
Follow all the Company HSEMS, QMS, policies and procedures
Perform other duties that maybe assigned by the Operations Manager or his designee
FACILITY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:
Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so; correct and report all unsafe conditions immediately.
Checks work order requirements for thread lubricant, protectors, coupling make-up, and holiday test procedures.
Randomly checks the calibration of the Mikrotest and Holiday machine calibration.
Checks the pipe tally and insures that the measurements are correctly made and recorded.
Insure conformity to SOP guidelines or customer specification in all operational checks listed above.
Initiate a non-conformity report on all rejected or NSC lengths of pipe as directed by the Operations Manager.
All non-conformity items will be clearly identified and set aside until a corrective course of action is decided on.
Exercises accept/reject decision-making capability.
Maintain documentation for each work order.
Assists/conducts training for all operators and inspectors.
Processes, consolidates, distributes and reports Daily Metrics Information, Oven charts, Reworks and NSCs.
Supervises and checks the daily collection of sand samples, conduct/document, sieve analyses and report results
Create, conduct, and document QAR Investigation and Findings.
Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned when needed
Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
Maintain a safe, clean work area.
Follow all appropriate procedures for the accumulation, labeling, on-site transportation, storage, and inspection of materials designated as hazardous waste per Environmental Control instructions.
Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Mechanical aptitude as demonstrated by prior experience in the use of measuring equipment.
It is preferred that applicants have experience in the application and use of a variety of gauges and/or inspection equipment as utilized in the facility; as well as having experience on the calibration of such equipment.
Must be able to accurately read and interpret product drawings and customer drawings.
Flexible, able to accept and respond to multi-task assignments quickly and readily.
Motivated towards productivity improvements, quality consciousness and safety awareness.
Ability to think ahead, anticipates problems, make decisions, and take appropriate action.
Effective leadership style and ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills to guide individuals/groups towards task accomplishment.
Must be able to execute duties with minimal supervision.
Must have excellent work record.
Must be available to work Day and/or Night Shifts as required and/or assigned.
Demonstrated capability and willingness to work overtime as necessary.
Standard work week is 48 hours; possible overtime up to 60 hours per week.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality assurance program required.
4 to 6 years of related experience required.
Prior Abrasive Blast and Coating Experience with Certification; preferred.
Must have technical or college diploma
NACE, SSPC and other related certifications desired.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Excellent English Language Skills (Reading, writing and speaking)
Excellent Computer Skills (Basic Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
