Job Description and Requirements testing on incoming products. The Technician will conduct the following tests Density, Viscosity, Gel Time, Melt Flow, Film Thickness, Thermal Analysis. The Technician will also be checking the cure on applied coatings with the use of a Dilatometer to make necessary critical observations, tests, or completing appropriate documentation as required for coating applications on line pipes, drill pipes, tubing, casing and custom pieces as directed; in accordance with NOV Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedures, customer specifications and International Standards. Reports to Quality Control Supervisor. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Will check the quality of Incoming products - Will Interface with Houston Quality Department - Will check cure of final bake products using a Dilatometer - Will prepare specimens for testing. Will preform various destructive tests and analysis to determine properties and characteristics of material. - Is required to use measuring equipment in the performance of various evaluations. - Will record data in a legible, systematic manner and also input the results into an electronic database as and when required. Data sets will be filed in accordance with the prescribed document control procedures. - Will perform investigations and other assignments, as required, to assist with the evaluation of products and processes. - Will Evaluate test results to determine product acceptance against applicable specifications and standards. Prepare test results, as required. - Perform Inspections of the Prime, Powder or Liquid Coating Application as Per the NOV Tuboscope Standard Operating Procedure - Inform the Shift Supervisor or his designee of any disturbance or irregularities in the production flow occurs - Records Daily Inspection Reports, Quality Assurance/Control Reports and all necessary Reports regarding operation and maintains the files of inspection documents - Review inspection reports and records received for compliance - Maintain inspection and measuring equipment - Prepare and coordinate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for nonconforming pipes and pieces - Follow all the Company HSEMS, QMS, policies and procedures - Perform other duties that maybe assigned by the Plant Manager or his designee FACILITY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES: - Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so; correct and report all unsafe conditions immediately. - Will be responsible for testing of all polymers and final cure of applied products; plus quality assurance of materials. - To ensure that the requirements of the documented quality system are adhered to and work produced compiles with drawing and specifications - To discuss all technical issues with the QHSE Manager. - To perform inspection of materials at supplier’s premises when required. - To inspect all incoming goods in accordance to the Purchase Order & drawings. - To prepare Inspection Report to record all findings. - To assist with supplier audits, client audits & Third party audits. - To document and report any work or process not conforming to specified requirements using the Non-Conformance reporting system. - To follow-up Non —Conformance reports until satisfactory conclusion. - To ensure that any discrepant materials are removed from the processes and quarantined - Insure conformity to SOP guidelines or customer specification in all operational checks listed above. - Initiate a non-conformity report on all rejected or NSC lengths of pipe as directed by the plant manager. - All non-conformity items will be clearly identified and set aside until a corrective course of action is decided on. - Weekly collection of sand samples, conduct/document, sieve analyses and report results - Coordinate and assure completion of quarterly quality samples. - Create, conduct, and document QAR Investigation and Findings. - To ensure that the company’s quality control and quality assurance procedures are adhered to. - Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity. - Maintain a safe, clean work area. - Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed. - Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations. - Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: - Must be able to communicate effectively with other departments, supervisors and employees. - Must be able to execute assigned duties with minimal supervision. - Must be able to read and comprehend detailed documents such as manufacturing orders, engineering product drawings, material certification sheets, industry specifications, etc. - Must have experience of operating the testing equipment within the QC Coating Laboratory. - Must have the ability to operate all of the equipment and perform most operations used in the preparation and testing of samples within the Laboratory. - Mechanical aptitude as demonstrated - Flexible, able to accept and - Motivated awareness. - Ability to think ahead, anticipates action. - Must be available to work Day - Demonstrated capability and - Standard work week is 48 hours; EXPERIENCE: - 1 to 3 years of related experience - Must have 2 to 4 year degree; science related desired. - Must be able to use Lab Testing equipment; DSC, Dilatometer, Brookfield KU-3 Viscometer, Analytical Balance, weight per gallon cup, microscope, and other fixtures used in QC of products and applications desired.
