JOB PURPOSE
The MOF Principle Engineer will advise and assist the MOFC in the day to day operations within the maintenance operations flight (MOF) responsibilities. In addition he will ensure all personnel are appropriately qualified understand the processes and procedures employed within their assigned areas of responsibility. He is also responsible for briefing the MOFC and MSC on issues that affect the availability of aircraft and for the production and analysis of engineering and logistics statistics to improve aircraft availability.
The Job holder serves as the point of contact between the ILOC and the MOF for the implementation of the strategic and tactical maintenance management of the Typhoon fleet
The job holder will supervise BAE Systems staff, Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) personnel and Royal Air Force (RAF) secondees as well as perfom mentoring and consolidation development of RSAF counterparts within the MOF environment
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure all Aircraft are flown into their SMU Slots, ensuring maximum useage of every airframe .
• Contact Point for RSAFHQ Advisors regarding Fleet Issues.
• Ensure all ILOC Tasking letters and Technical Instructions are forward on to the AGF s and Forward Operating Bases.
• Provide Monthly and Weekly Flying Schedules IAW the Fleet Plan to the MSC for his authorisation and ensure the schedules are adhered to by the Flying Squadrons.
• Control and supervision of all engineering and maintenance operations personnel within his area of responsibility.
• POC with the ILOC to implement HQ strategy within the maintenance organisation
• Ensuring that all continuing airworthiness and maintenance operations activities conducted within his area of responsibility are carried out in accordance with current processes and procedures by appropriately authorised, qualified and competent personnel.
• Ensuring that all engineering operations activities within your control is covered by the appropriate delegated authorities.
• Ensuring all personnel under his control adhere to RSAF procedures as laid down in the 4-7166-2, RSAFI 47166-1-2 & RSAFI 4-7165-110
• Coaching, mentoring and delivering consolidation development to all BAES and RSAF personnel under your direction and control.
• Ensuring that all personnel engaged in activities in his area of responsibility follow the correct procedures and as the Senior Supervisor of the team, actively promote and ensure Health and Safety practices in his area of responsibility and that as far as is reasonably practicable ensuring that no one is exposed to any unnecessary or uncontrolled risk.
• Maintaining and updating MOF local procedures and orders which are to be held readily available within the MOF
• Ensure accurate reporting of aircraft status,ETICS and Rob authorisations
• Within his organisational structure is responsible for the personal and career development of his subordinates
• Ensure that the Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems are understood by staff under your direction and control Ensuring that relevent Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems are understood and implemented by staff under his supervision.
• Responsible for the co-ordination of Engineering & Logistical support of Typhoon A/C based at Taif or detached on operation, exercises or trials
• Completing any other reasonable duties or requests that are made by your line management.
• Responsible for coordinating the RSAF process of continual improvement, ensuring all personnel under his responsibility support the CI process
• Planning,implementing and monitoring the maintenance effort to meet operational deployments of the Typhoon sqns as directed by the MSC
• Providing Advice and Recommendations to the MOFC and appropriate counter measures, where activities are likely to prejudice maintenance performance, safety and the integrity of the Typhoon Fleet and implementing those measures as directed by the RSAF.
• Manage the Plans and Schedules Section IAW RSAF 4-7166-1-2, ensuring correct allocation of assets for the Daily Flying Programme
• Carry out Counterpart Training of RSAF Maintenance Officers as allocated to the MOF
• Ensure KPI s are monitored and the Fleet Manipulated to encourage KPI adherence.
• Responsible to the MOFC for Day to Day running of the MOF ensuring adequate qualified manpower available to carry out the duties of the MOF
• Controls the movement of aircraft between units ensuring that all requirements are met for QRA, Operations (FOB s) and Training Flights, also ensuring that aircraft return to MOB for required servicings in a timely manner, both Out of Phase and Scheduled Maintenance
• Compilation and presentation of the Daily Maintenance Brief to the MSC and Senior Company Management, ensuring the Fleet Staus is accurately presented.and daily status correct for transmission to RSAF HQ
• Challenge both Industry and RSAF alike on relevant Fleet Issues.
• Ensure all Fleet Management Aids are Accurately updated to show the Fleet Status as it changes.
• Attend meetings on behalf of the MOF Cdr, relating to Fleet Issues
• Monitor the Fleet ensuring the Fleet Plan is followed for Flying Hours and Fatigue Index.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
• Proven potential/actual supervisory ability in a high tempo aircraft maintenance delivery driven environment.
• Must be educated to HNC level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training.
• Must have successfully completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship or similar practical aircraft maintenance training programme delivered by a NATO air force or approved aircraft maintenance training provider.
• At least eight years post qualification experience of military fast jet maintenance support, at a certifying position.
• A minimum of 8 years experience working at Supervisor level within the Engineering Operations Support Environment
• An understanding of Typhoon RSAF engineering operations procedures, particularly the RSAFI 4-7166-2-E-5-1 and 4-7166-2-E-6 and the RSAFI 4-7166-1-2
Desirable
• Broad aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge.
• Experience within an ILOC/ EOS environment
RECRUITMENT
The job holder should have the following background:
• Currently working in an aircraft maintenance organisation conducting or supporting Maintenance management of military fast-jets (Typhoon preferred).
• Excellent man management and people development competencies. Management experience with proven ability to manage junior engineering personnel.
