Key Responsibilities:
Provide service in accordance with client s request and contract specifications.
Review project requirements, Supervise lower grade geologists and engineering geologists and direct implementation of appropriate techniques. Performs independently all standard geological assignments, prepares and implements logging field testing and geological reportingprocedure and plan on large project. Supervises moderate to complex field investigations, and assists lower level professionals in the completion of assignments.
Develop geological assessment on project with specific requirements or complex settings with potential impact on project development. Show initiative and lead in innovative technologies to develop mapping competencies and increase expertise with geo-data modelling on each project
Show initiative as part of the role in all duties and set example as necessity for the team members.
Liaise with site staff, undertake desktop studies to determine the geological setting of the site. Identify geohazards on investigative sites and inform clients of potential risks.
Should be able to lead a team of Engineering Geologists,
Product Manager for selected Fugro products and thereby gaining expertise through literature and/or studies.
Establish and maintain long term relations with clients and business partners. Identify and develop engineering and consulting service opportunities with clients within a project.
Updated and actively contribute to implementation of published Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental procedures in the work place.
Responsible for understanding engineering requirements as per project specifications and ensuring that the engineering data collection testing and reporting are in accordance with accepted latest codes and standards and standard engineering practices.
Qualifications required:
M. Sc in Geology or Earth science.
At least 10 years experience in soil investigation & laboratory testing, derivation of parameters and foundation design, geological assessment, development of mapping and identification of features, faults, seismic hazard, slope stability and other related geohazards.
Updated in geological assessment techniques, logging, laboratory and in-situ-testing standards and capable of knowledge transfer to department members. Capable to prepare geotechnical engineering assessment for common foundation types, geological assessment and desktop study reports Should have a basic understanding of soil mechanics. Civil Engineering knowledge will be added advantage.
