Project Overview and Role:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Purpose of Position
The Value Chain Specialist will be working within the MODON Food Processing Clusters Team to understand the value chain needs of the Cluster Strategy and to support the implementation of the project by working with external stakeholders and bringing methods and techniques learnt as a consultant and as an expert in value chain to bear.
2. Primary Responsibilities
The Value Chain Specialist is responsible for leading the implementation of a discrete work products (Cost of Farm Products and Added Value, and Export Logistics & Delivery Strategy) and support other work streams (including Cluster Operational Delivery) and support the delivery of the broader Cluster project. The primary responsibilities of the Value Chain Specialist are to:
Create the Cluster Value Chain Strategy.
Create the Pilot Projects action plans.
Deliver the Value Chain aspects of the Pilot Projects action plans.
Develop relationships with key stakeholders.
Plan the Cluster value chain delivery.
Ensure that resources are available to deliver the action plan.
Interact independently with client leadership.
Coach and mentor junior team members both overall and on projects.
Manage and coordinate internal projects.
In addition, the role will require working with the MODON team and preparing and working with NIDLP to discuss the Cluster delivery.
3. Reporting requirements
The role reports to the Senior Manager or above. Reporting requirements include:
Attend all weekly meetings and other meetings as required.
Participate in regular project status updates with the project manager on client engagements.
Regular updates with line manager.
Timely submission of assigned reports.
Monthly updates on the status of Key Result Areas, as well as any other important areas of concern.
4. Relationships
Key relationships will be with manager, clients as well as the wider consulting team.
External stakeholders will also be important including logistics and value chain companies, Regional and National Government Agencies.
This role will likely have at least one direct report which will require close management in line with the performance excellence model.
When working on a particular client project, there will be a designated client relationship manager who the senior consultant will be required to liaise closely with throughout the duration of the project.
5. Authority levels
The role carries a degree of autonomy with appropriate consultation. The role is required to:
Analyse and make sound recommendations to the line manager.
Approve most client deliverables under the guidance of the senior manager.
Contribute to process improvement through innovative and cost-effective proposals/ideas/suggestions.
Strong
relevant business experience, working in industry or in an advisory role in
industrial training and development.
Balanced skills in general problem
solving, concept development, project management, and facilitation.
Experience of managing large teams in an
international business environment would be desirable.
Experience working in the Middle East
with working knowledge of the Arabic language would be desirable.
6. Minimum experience required
Strong relevant value chain experience, working in industry or in an advisory role in industrial value chains.Particularly food value chains.
Balanced skills in general problem solving, concept development, project management, and facilitation.
Having experience working in an international business environment would be desirable
Experience working in the Middle East with working knowledge of the Arabic language would be desirable.

The role is based in Riyadh.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
