The Sustainability Lead will implement the Water Sector s sustainability strategy, policies and procedures and plans. Monitor and report on Water s performance in relation to sustainability KPIs, plans and objectives in coordination with all relevant departments to ensure the implementation of sustainability initiatives.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Maintain and revise sustainability strategy, policies and procedures based on international best practices to ensure they are implemented appropriately and optimally as and when required
Conduct research to identify sustainability opportunities, interests, and issues
Support Water sector planning for achieving sustainability targets and opportunities
Develop and progress Water Sector sustainability plans and actions
Implement sustainability KPIs (including definitions/ formulas) according to best practices to monitor performance and success in achieving targets
Manage performance analysis based on data of the current performance of environmental sustainability, sharing lessons learned, future direction and aspirations, trends, and strategic-related opportunities and challenges
Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation pertaining to sustainability across the Water business units to serve as the corporate expert within the field of sustainability when called on
Assess and provide risk identification, mitigation or risk avoidance strategies and other solutions and ensure resolving all high priority risks as they are encountered
Provide regular, timely and accurate status updates and assessments to all teams within Water on sustainability to ensure the proper flow of information
Review and advise on necessary changes documentation related to the sustainability including procedures checklists and standard operating procedures and ensure that necessary management controls are in place and meet the required criteria
Organize and supervise the work of the assigned team to ensure that all work within a specific area of the activity is carried out in an efficient manner, which is consistent with operating procedures and policy
Provide guidance and on the job training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing to facilitate achievement of team objectives and completion of tasks in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy
Education & Experience
Bachelor s Degree in Environmental sciences, Environmental engineering, Engineering or any relevant field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management and/or sustainability
Thorough and current knowledge of sustainability practices, and applicable laws and regulations
Ability to analyze and understand research and to identify relevant and valuable information
Able to determine the actions, risks and end results required
Ability to respond appropriately in unplanned and unforeseen circumstances
Highly collaborative, open mindset and strong communication skills
Advanced analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal, team and communication skill as well as a focus on efficiency and effectiveness combined with a hands-on, can-do mentality
Strong ability to prioritize tasks in a highly dynamic environment
