Job Description and Qualifications

PROJECT SUMMARY

Air Products, ACWA Power and NEOM have entered into a Joint Venture agreement and together established the NEOM GREEN HYDROGEN COMPANY (NGHC). The Company will be Owner and Operator of the world’s first and largest green hydrogen project at an estimated capital investment of USD $ 5bn. This unique project will be a fore-runner in green hydrogen-based ammonia production and will serve the new and growing global Hydrogen markets. The facility will be sited in NEOM, KSA and will be powered by more than 4GW of renewable solar, wind and battery storage. The project is scheduled to be onstream in 2026.

POSITION SUMMARY

An opportunity is now available for a Manager of Materials Management (MM) for the NGHC facility. The position will manage the “hard goods” availability such that there is an optimised balance between the cost of plant/equipment unavailability (plus the associated costs) This is achieved by:

Determine the correct level of spare parts holding for each plant/unit and the location in which they should be held. Purchase and store those spare parts deemed necessary.
Manage the spare parts inventory to ensure that the required spare parts are available for use in a time frame that meets the business need.
Manage the volume “hard goods” inventory associated with the customer service activities.
Provide a 24hr - 365 days/year point of contact for materials, volume “hard goods”, and spares requirements.
The role of the Manager of MM is especially important in the pre-operational phase of the facility as the initial strategy of provisioning the facility will be determined and implemented. The expectation is that the incumbent will work closely with the EPC to coordinate the selection and purchase of capital and operating spares and then will continue into the long-term operation of the Assets which may include broader regional responsibilities.

The incumbent will report initiallity to the VP of Operations and at a later stage in the project to the Director of Supply Chain for NGHC who in turn reports to the CEO. The Manager of MM will lead a Materials Management/Warehouse team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and participate in the provisioning of a “hard goods” Materials Management service to the NGHC Facility.

Primary activities include:

A - Provisioning - Lead in this functional role.

Determine/verify the correct level of spare parts holding to meet the business needs. Use this to develop the final spare parts Budget for the Facility. Decision on what spares to purchase is based on:
- balance between cost of availability vs cost of unavailability

- cost of spares, availability, delivery times

- probability of requirements

- shared “system” spares, interchangeability

- vendor stocking programs and responsibilities

- cost and impact of plants/equipment downtime

Bill of Materials creation in the ERP System and set up of stores and warehousing

B - Inventory Analysis Lead this functional role

Analysis of stock demand patterns and trends to optimize inventory holdings to match the requirements of each business.

C- Operating Plant Support

Inventory Management
Optimize stock levels
- cost vs operating impact of unavailability

- analyze usage, requirement

Shipment and control of “system” spares
Stock replacement when used
- identify interchangeable components from alternative suppliers

- alternatives for obsolete equipment / components

- identify and source from OEMs at lower cost

Tracking and control of equipment refurbishment
Expediting deliveries
Stock inventory checks.
Non-routine (rapid reaction)
24hr - 365 day/year on-call availability for expertise and action getting “hard goods” to the points of need.
Emergency transport arrangements.
Fast delivery negotiations with vendors.
Alternative sources – Air Products and/or ACWA, interchangeable parts, customers.
Training
Provide training and support in “hard goods” inventory management methods and ERP transactions

D - Warehouse Management

Goods inwards / outwards control
Safe storage of capital spares
Long term preservation and storage of major capital spares. Compliance with preventive maintenance tasks to preserve usable condition.
Consolidation of spares for Operations.
Inventory control and management of volume “hard goods” for site activities

SKILLS

Lead by example with regards to following procedures and the highest priority of maintaining personnel safety
Possess strong leadership skills to drive both internal and external teams to their highest performance
Good computer skills along with strong SAP experience & knowledge

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

This position requires an individual with considerable practical experience & broad range in materials management activities and a commercial provisioning aptitude.
A blended knowledge of mechanical, instrument, and electrical, along with warehouse/inventory management background is desirable.
10+ years in associated field experience in provisioning, spares parts management & warehousing. With experience in Chemical/Petro-Chemical and/or Renewable Energy area is desired.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance or after sales support is a plus.
A technical degree is preferred.
