Our client is a leading multinational company in Freight Forwarding seeking to recruit a ‘’ Transport Operations Manager” for Jeddah - KSA. Position will be reporting to the Freight Operations Director

• Graduate in any discipline Preferably Post Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain Solutions, and or Transportation
• 10 years of overall experience in Freight Forwarding Industry
• Minimum of 5 years in Road Transport operations
• Exposure to Transport Operators in KSA
• Smooth execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation related matters with an emphasis on sub-contracting transportation services. To provide operational leadership to the Transportation Unit with a clear focus on improving operational efficiency, responsiveness and overall customer service
• Operational utilization is separate from overall utilization and excludes R&M;/admin
• Operational utilization to reported per asset on a MTD/YTD basis
• Fleet utilization benchmarked at 90% of available assets
• Effective dispatch planning to be monitored with maximum asset revenue generation and minimum outsourcing costs achieved – targets to be set
• All asset mileage are to be tracked and verified in accordance with the AVL monitoring system
• Fuel spend to be monitored and reported – km/fuel spend metric
• Asset revenue/spend monitored on a per km basis
• Asset R&M;costs to be evaluated with; asset R&M;history, cost of repairs, kilometers covered by repair and asset age before all R&M;approvals
• LSPO process to be maintained and followed
• Repair vendors to be continually assessed for part/labor rates challenged
• Repair vendor performance to be assessed on a monthly basis with a vendor scorecard developed/implemented
• All assets under R&M;are to be our of repair on the estimated date – no vendor repair delays are acceptable
• All R&M;costs to be analyzed in conjunction with budgeted monthly R&M;costs
• Provide a salvage value and full justifications of all assets prior to disposal
• Company’s Brand logo’s to be prominently displayed on all assets
• Responsible for the overall Road Transport P & L
• Rate card to be revised on a monthly basis – all lanes, all branches and all main asset types, (flat bed, curtain slider, box, reefer)
• Provide competitive and timely road product tender responses for sales and sales support teams
• Outsourced verses own vehicle spend to be monitored on a daily basis and provided for all branches, asset type, lanes and cost per km
• Assessment made of asset revenues v outsourced spend and recommendations made for revised placement/CAPEX expenditure, promoting maximum asset revenue
• Investigate all asset/driver fines within 24 x hours, recommending payment or driver disciplinary action
• Provide full costing’s of replacement tractor assets in conjunction with an assessment of operational non trailer running assets – both aligned with revenue opportunities
• Devise full driver/asset KPI’s ensuring that these are communicated, monitored and delivered
• Develop a back loading operational system with all 3 x branches – providing most competitive rates/maximum utilization
• Adhere to all HSE / Quality procedures
• Driver TBT’s to be conducted and documented – emphasis on hygiene, wearing of uniforms and PPE
• Monitor the placement of drivers on long/short trips so trip allowance revenue opportunities are distributed fairly
• Driver assessment to be conducted on driving standards, disciplinary and health issues
• Driver leave to be planned so overall utilization does not fall below expectation and outsource spend is minimized
• Drivers to be switched between branches when R&M;activities result in surplus branch drivers being available
• Gain and maintain a full understanding of the MT system and ensure that is use is fully utilized
• Truck visibility to be tracked through the MT system
• Any other related duties / projects assigned, in order to meet the business needs
• Financial responsibilities are cost control metrics, operating budget, sub-contractor payments, and billing Performance (wherever necessary)
• Functional relationship is internally through direct reports, with line manager, department heads, and network offices (where necessary), and externally with sub-contractors, and customers
• Ideal candidate has high competencies in analytical skills, numerical skills, organization and planning skills, leadership, and team management Skills
• Good computer skills especially Excel & Power Point presentations is a must
• Good spoken and written English. Arabic speaking would be an added advantage
• Age limit: 45 years
