-Takes complete charge of planning supervising the operations, maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment on board ship including propulsion engines, motors, boilers, auxiliary and dock machinery, refrigeration, air conditioning and sanitary equipment, directs and supervises personnel of engine-room department;
-Requisitions fuel and engine departments stores’
-Maintains records of operations of engineering department.
-Liaises fully with the Chief Officer in the monitoring of deck and hotel equipment performance plans for the coordinated action of the two Departments in the undertaking of Deck & Hotel maintenance.
-Ensures technical standards are maintained in respect of maintenance of Deck and Hotel machinery and equipment.
-Ensures correct level of spare parts is maintained in respect of Deck and Hotel equipment, together with the Chief Officer.
-Fully in-charge of all Bunkering Operations. Be solely responsible for agreeing final quantity of bunkers stemmed, ensuring correct bunkering procedures are established, and that Company instructions are implemented throughout bunkering operation.
