GIS Specialist

This position is to provide leading geospatial technology support for our clients within the Urban Development Group.
Key Skills and abilities for this GIS Specialist Position:
You may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices involved with a developing GIS database system.
Provide GIS support, strategy, and delivery for GIS needs.
Have strong skills in geographic information system (GIS), hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.
Develop and implement project plans and work assignments, ensure product quality, and on-schedule.
Demonstrates cartographic, data management, and analytical skills.
Knowledge of troubleshooting methods for ArcSDE(Enterprise) and ArcGIS for Server.
Ability to create Web applications using ArcGIS for Server and software. Knowledge must include advanced editing skills, use of cartographic tools, and the ability to create ArcMap projects from multiple data sources.
Perform initiatives to introduce new technology and methods to improve development of existing or future projects.
Coordinate, train and instruct staff in the operation of the client’s GIS system.
Manage the user and editor access rights for all staff using the GIS system.
Ability to maintain and monitor the integrity, speed and backup data of a GIS system as necessary for consistency and reliable operation.
Desirable, but not essential - the ability to provide mobile app services for a range of GIS Web applications for staff and their on-site inspections.

Desired Candidate Profile
* B.S. Computer Science, Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Land Use Planning, or directly-related discipline.
Significant experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of applications, including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcTools, ArcInfo, ArcSDE(Enterprise), Arc License Manager, and ArcGIS for Server and ability to demonstrate the production of GIS-associated deliverables that meet client expectations using ESRI’s ArcGIS platform.
Experience in or working knowledge of GIS-based programming and application development in web/desktop environment (e.g., R, JavaScript, Python, CSS) will be a strong plus
Significant experience with using GIS tools to examine, convert and present spatial data using industry standards and best practices.
General understanding of data types, data design and the use of relational database management of spatial data. A working knowledge of SQL syntax and the use of enterprise tools for relational database management is desired.
Experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to assist with client deliverables.
Display attributes of a strong consultant (team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter that takes initiative, versatile, and has a client service mentality).
Experience in training other staff into using GIS software (users and editors).
