Operate and monitor water plant and its performance parameters and take appropriate action to correct deviations from established standards to ensure continuity of operations and provision of water production in a safe and reliable manner according to water demands.
Perform daily routine check on all plant and equipment for which he is accountable so that equipment is operated in a safe and smooth manner, maintained in a suitable condition and any maintenance can be carried out in a planned manner.
Prepare accurate records of all shift/team activities electronically so that incoming shift/shift supervisor is aware of the status of the plant/equipment, progress versus plan and any process issues.
Calculate and consolidate production report electronically and submit to shift supervisor for review.
Maintain accurate shift records of events, machine status and operations so that all critical information in concisely communicated between shifts and to shift supervisor.
Respond immediately to emergencies, including fires, to mitigate and rescue Plant equipment and/or personnel during emergency situations.
Monitor process parameters and control within defined limits and take the necessary corrective action in case of emergencies or equipment breakdown to ensure the uninterrupted service. Shift take over – review with outgoing shift control operator the activities of the previous shift such as, tripping, shut-downs, start-ups, deviations from normal operating standards, etc. to ensure that continuing problems are handled as necessary.
Check parameters, alarms, unit production, communicate with waist water pump station relating to water consumption requirements for steam requirements, corrective action in respect of deviations according to established procedures and report to shift supervisor for further advice and action.
Coordinate with Field Operators and shift supervision to resolve deviations from normal standards. Include isolating equipment and auxiliaries, operating the electrical system, switching of the network, etc. to carry out maintenance and as required.
Monitor conductivity, PH and communicate readings to the Laboratory and implement instructions to bring levels in line with required standards.
Follow all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Follow all relevant safety, quality and environmental control procedures and instructions so that personal safety/the safety of others is not jeopardised and a minimum level of product/service quality and environmental impact can be guaranteed.

The prime responsibility of the jobholder is to run and monitor the operation of the water plant and its auxiliaries during the shift, and ensure its smooth operation.
The jobholder is directly reporting to the Shift Supervisor / Foreman.
The biggest challenge in short and long term is to monitor and ensure the safe and smooth operation of the desalination plant in order to ensure the supply of process and potable water to customers with the required quality and as per applicable standards.
The jobholder may be exposed to air pollution, hot working environment, and Different chemicals.
Thorough understanding of all relevant operational processes.
