Senior Civil Engineer (Utilities / Underground)

Job Description and Requirements
Responsible for the design of underground networks (Storm water, Sanitary water, Oily water drainage systems, firefighting systems,) under the direction of the Lead Civil / Structural Engineer.

Responsible for ensuring that all assigned Underground activities are carried out within the stipulated man - hour budgets and time schedules
Assist in the preparation of project related standards and job notes on assigned projects
Perform engineering design calculations and prepares design sketches as required on assigned projects
Assist the civil designers in the preparation of Underground Utilities drawings
Review, comments on and approves Underground Utilities drawings
Review and comments on supplier and other discipline drawings
Attend progress meetings and assists in the preparation of project progress reports
Advise his / her supervising engineer of any slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action
Advise his / her supervising engineer of any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups
Assist in the preparation of contract requisitions and schedules of quantity for Underground Utilities work on assigned projects
Liaise with construction personnel and addresses site queries during construction
Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the lead or supervising Civil Engineer

Technical Design Ability: With minimal supervision completes technical design work and all necessary calculations using AMEC Foster Wheeler and Client design methods, standards and data in line with Project requirements. Provision of support to designers. Experience with Brownfields upgrades is highly recommended

Technical Expertise: Possesses proficient levels of technical expertise required to do the job, however continuously work towards improving and updating technical abilities. Will personally seek out opportunities to develop technical knowledge base
Continuous Improvement: Working through training objectives and continuous improvement schedule via in house and external training opportunities. Working towards professional qualification
Analytical Thinking: Identifies and analyses problems within their remit and can utilise analytical tools to break problems into component parts. Is attentive to detail and can follow existing guidelines to resolve issues. Understands limitations and problems of analysis within their remit
Organisational and Industry Awareness: Has an understanding of the wider business goals and will allow this to guide their input and decision making. Understand and complies with the rules and regulations applicable to their role
Commercial Awareness and Customer Focus: Has an understanding of general market conditions and the drivers behind projects. Understands the market in which AMEC Foster Wheeler operates and can articulate AMEC Foster Wheeler’s skills and methodologies to support client needs. Understands the importance of customers to the organisation. Takes pride in delivering a high - quality service
The ideal candidate must have a degree in Civil Engineering with 10 - 15 years of overall experience and more than 5 years in a similar position
Previous experience on Saudi ARAMCO projects is mandatory
