BWP are currently representing a leading international rail provider with a large presence in the Middle East. They have an opening for a Rail Safety Manager who will be responsible for all activities associated with obtaining metro operational approval.Responsibilities:
Manage all activities associated with obtaining operational approval
Provide authoritative advice to senior management on rail safety assurance, regulation and safety investigation, ensuring that the business complies with applicable legislation
Management and oversight of the Operations Safety Certification requirements for the rail network with a special focus on management, coordination and control of the Operations Hazard Logs
Develop and maintain the O&M;Hazard Log and identify effectively mitigate to level acceptable to the board all hazards relating to all business activities in accordance with the Risk Management Plan
Develop and maintain a transferred Hazard log and identify and effectively mitigate to level acceptable to the board
Ensure regulatory obligations and opportunities are achieved and maximized
Manage Network Safety Compliance and operational safety assurance functions within the business including implementation of the book of rules in coordination with the Operations Directorate
Oversee rail safety performance standards by ensuring effective oversight of assurance activities, incident investigations and the adoption of remedial action aimed at securing rail safety
Support ongoing development of the legal compliance register and programs to ensure the HSQE team and line managers have increased awareness of legal responsibilities
Assist the management team in setting of policies, standards, procedures and instructions to address statutory obligations and for the management of risk across the network
Requirements:
Degree educated
Specific qualifications/training in safety, risk management, investigations, quality or environmental management
Experience of railway operations
Extensive knowledge of railway legislations, codes of practice and international standards
Knowledge of Safety Management Systems, design reviews and railways systems
Minimum of 15 years in railway operations, engineering, health and safety, quality or environmental management
Knowledge of the legal framework around Safety, Risk Management, Railway Operations, Quality and Environmental Management
