Job Description and Requirements
Education and Licensure
1. Graduate from a recognized medical school (M.B.B.S.).
2. Postgraduate degree Fellowship certification i.e. Saudi Board, Arab Board, American Board or Canadian or its equivalent internationally recognized high medical qualifications.
3. Current valid license as consultant to practice his specialty in his country of origin and from Saudi Council for Healthcare Services.
4. Current valid certification of Basic Life Support or obtaining that within 6 months of commencement of employment.
Professional Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the practice of his specialty after obtaining his High Medical Degree.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
1. Must be fluent in spoken and written English and Arabic.
2. Must be emotionally stable and in good physical health.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Participate in the on-call Rota of the department of Internal Medicine for patient care and participate in the morning reports.
2) Review/perform histories and physical examination of the Residents and Registrars, plan the work-up of the patients and decide treatment.
3) Ensure the smooth running of the Nephrology out-patient clinics.
4) Perform some diagnostic procedures such as pleural and abdominal taps. He is allowed to do bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, liver and pleural biopsy if he is trained and confident to perform such procedures.
5) Interpret ECG’s urinalysis, electrolytes and arterial blood gases.
6) Perform internal jugular catheterization-femoral vein and arteries catheterization and to insert a peritoneal catheter.
7) Perform percutaneous kidney biopsy and able to interpret it with the help of the Histopathologist.
8) Perform all forms of dialectic therapy (hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, hemofiltration, ultrafiltration, peritoneal dialysis, CAPD, CAVH, etc.)
9) Record all data on patient care in the patient’s medical record in accordance with the accepted international standards and hospital regulations.
10) Review and discharges summary, death report and respond in writing to inquiries from the Hospital Director, Medical Director or the Chief of Medicine.
11) Serve on committees as appointed by the Chief of Medicine or the Medical Director.
12) Participate in Postgraduate activities of the Department of Internal Medicine. This includes Grand Rounds, Bedside Teaching Sessions, Clinical Lectures, Tutorials, Residents’ Seminars, the Journal Club, Morbidity and Mortality, Radiology and Clinico-Pathological Conferences.
13) Participate in the Nephrology Club, National Kidney Foundation and other activities related to the field of Nephrology.
14) Perform any other assignment as determined by the Chief of Medicine.
15) Abide by the policies and procedures of the Department of Internal Medicine, the bylaws, rules and regulations of the Medical Staff of the Security Forces Hospital.
16) Comply with the standards laid down by the Approved International Accreditation Standards.
17) Identifies any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the Hospital or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations that put patients, staff or visitors at risk for injury or other harm through the chain of command.
18) Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
