Shall perform a broad range of aviation and systems engineering activities to include, but not limited to, the following:Advising and assisting the customer in all aspects of aviation and systems engineering
Provide expertise to the customer on aircraft airworthiness and certification
Perform research and development, production, testing, theoretical studies, system design analyses, and recommendations to identify new systems or system upgrades
Provide solutions to complex issues involving aviation systems, airworthiness, airframe engineering, aircraft control systems, avionics, design engineering, manufacturing, project / program management, systems engineering, test engineering, aircraft systems integration, and quality management
Suggesting improvements to systems and maintenance procedures
Attend meetings and conferences and prepare/present briefings as required
Design and development of training material and conduct of training
Performing intermediate level maintenance as required
Interface with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Field Representatives to investigate/resolve deficiency reports
Perform engineering management and workflow authority process management
Develop and integrate concept requirements, design, prototypes, testing, production, training, and logistics in support of a weapon system life cycle
Identify trade space in an aircraft system program regarding performance, life cycle cost, risk, production, supportability, testing, and other engineering requirements
Review requirements and translate them into technical specifications of aircraft, software, equipment, facilities, data, and personnel
Aid and guide the customer and contractors with aviation quality systems management
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for weapon systems
Perform analyses of weapon systems concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operations, maintenance, and disposal
Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirement onto the total systems solution technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Perform functional analyses of timeline, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
Review and recommend system engineering modifications for authorization and provide improvement initiatives
Identify, evaluate, and perform cost benefit analyses of improvement initiatives
Investigate aircraft systems related issues affecting fleet performance and devise innovative solutions
Monitor and evaluate test programs and data to identify problems and verify performance
Develop system testing procedures and documentation to verify performance to specifications
Participate in the test acceptance of aircraft and equipment
Perform studies and participate in the development and implementation of safety, reliability, and maintainability program
Provide daily aircraft, support equipment, and system engineering support for general maintenance and technical issues
Provide written reports and briefings to the chain of command
Coordinate with equipment field support representatives on any engineering or maintenance issues
Be the focal point for engineering and maintenance activities
Facilitate the engineering and technical interface between the customer and contractors
Perform as the action officer for all technical queries and engineering replies
Produce briefings, engineering drawings, specifications, interface control documents, engineering reports, test plans, technical orders, and time compliance technical orders in detail from data that will be collected
Comply with all safety directives and instructions
Assist in the creation of original designs for engineering solutions that require extensive planning
Participate in accident investigations by evaluating evidence and making recommendations on major defects and assisting with incident reports

BA/BS and 4-12 of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, or 8-20 years of directly related experience with proper certification(s)
Experience in defense work environment and on defense systems preferred
Shall have comprehensive knowledge of aviation and systems engineering; background in the electrical, mechanical, aviation, and/or engines disciplines; and familiarity with current defense systems
