Duties and Responsibilities: 5.0 Duties and Responsibilities 5.1 Assists with admissions, transfer and discharges of patient. 5.1.1 Orientates patient to their physical environment upon admission. (i.e. call light, side rails, bed control, television, etc.) 5.1.2 Takes and record vital signs, height and weight for patients. Observes records and reports all abnormal findings to the charge nurse or team leader. 5.1.3 Assists in antenatal history taking (i.e. LMP, fundal height with EDC, abdominal palpation). 5.1.4 Provide patient education for antenatal, post natal and gynecological information and instructions of medications and undergoing surgical procedures. 5.1.5 Prepares patients and their environments at meal times, feeds patients as indicated. 5.2 Initiates the Nursing Care Process on all patients upon admission. 5.2.1 Recognizes changes in patients nursing actions. 5.2.2 Records those actions and patients reaction in the nurses’ notes, under the direction of the Head Nurse or Charge Nurse. 5.2.3 Updates the nursing process (care plan accordingly). 5.3 Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and wellbeing of patients. 5.3.1 Provides treatment, using therapeutic equipment. 5.3.2 Attends to patients hygiene needs and comfort. 5.3.3 Makes occupied and unoccupied beds. 5.3.4 Ambulates patients as ordered. 5.3.5 Answer call light and reports all unusual conditions to the charge nurse / team leader. 5.3.6 May apply hot and cold compresses to patient, as directed by the charge nurse / team leader. 5.3.7 Records intake and output. 5.3.8 Collects specimens from patients for laboratory examination. 5.3.9 Carry out gynecological test, pregnancy and delivery related to screening procedures. (i.e. uterine massage, CTG monitoring, abdominal palpation) 5.3.10 Observe isolation techniques. 5.3.11 Gives postmortem care. 5.4 Admission prescribed medication with the exception IV push medication. 5.4.1 Observes progress of intravenous infusion, maintains prescribed infusion rate and ensures that IV sites is intact. 5.5 Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examination of patients. 5.5.1 Sets up diagnostic equipment at bedside as needed. 5.5.2 Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures (i.e. pelvic exam, ultrasound, etc.) 5.5.3 Changes dressing as ordered by the physician, using aseptic technique as directed by nursing practice. 5.6 Initiates and actively participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). 5.7 Performs other duties as may assigned. 5.7.1 Transport patients to other departments (i.e. XRAY etc.) 5.7.2 Transport specimens to the Laboratory. 5.7.3 Cleanses duty instruments and tray before returning them to CSSD. 5.7.4 Maintain cleanliness and neatness of patient’s environment, utility room, treatment room, CSSD room and nurses station.

Clinically knowledgeable in area of assignment.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Knowledgeable of Middle Eastern culture and customs.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Licensed Practical Nurse or equivalent in country of origin.
