JOB DESCRIPTION BASIC INFORMATION Position Title English Arabic Freight Pricing Specialist Job Code TBD Grade Business Entity Division HCL Department HCL Section Front Office Reporting To Team Leader No. of Direct Reports TBD JOB PURPOSE HCL specialises in international freight and provides freight forwarding services across air, sea, road and rail. The role primarily involves ensuring that client freight operational requirements are interpreted correctly and services arranged for and delivered within service and cost parameters. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities Core responsibilities Freight Pricing Specialist: § Investigating and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment, taking account of the unique (e.g. perishable or hazardous) nature of the goods, cost, transit time and security. § Aarranging appropriate cost deviations in account of climate, terrain, weight, nature of goods. § Negotiating and documenting supplier costs and client costs. § Considering the cost parameters of transportation, handling, packing and insurance. § Liaising with HCL warehouse department to ensure goods are booked into the warehouse prior to arrival. § Obtaining, checking and preparing reasonable pricing to meet customer’s requirements with suitable packing specifications, keen documentation to meet customs and insurance needs, compliance with other countries’ regulations and fiscal regimes. § Ensuring that the client is offered positive communication in the event of a shipping problem, being pro-active to provide a solution where possible. § Adhering to all Health & Safety relating to your role, site and colleagues. § Undertaking other responsible tasks that may be required from time to time as directed by the needs of the business and/or your Line Manager. Self-management responsibilities § Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Team Leader to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended § Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role § Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued educational and professional growth Performs other responsibilities and tasks as directed by the Team Leader in order to contribute to the overall departmental growth. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Qualifications University/college degree is an asset. Professional Certifications Preferred N.A. Years of Experience A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Nature of Experience Previous experience, especially in any freight forwarding company is a must. Job Specific Skills Familiarity with office software is a must. § Experienced in handling freight operations in a freight forwarding environment. Business Language Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
