IT Applications Sr. Manager
Job Description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
DESCRIPTION
Strategy and Planning
§ Translate the Information Technology General Department strategies and policies into operational plans and organize the work of the IT Application Support Department and oversee its implementation to deliver services and achieve its objectives.
People Management
§ Supervise the teamwork of the IT Application Support Department and follow-up on the evaluation of their performance by providing feedback on an ongoing basis and seek opportunities to develop their capabilities in order to motivate them and raise the level of performance of the work of the department. § Identify the training and development needs of the IT Application Support Department employees and fill the knowledge gaps to ensure continuous development and a high level of competence within the team.
Budget Management
§ Prepare and propose the IT Application Support Department budget and control expenditures within the approved budget to enable the department to estimate projected expenditures to ensure efficient and effective use of financial resources.
Application Support Operations
§ Oversee development and implementation of processes for seamless application configuration and upgrades across LCGPA. § Oversee development and implementation of processes to resolve application issues in an efficient manner; understand root causes of complex application problems / malfunctions and direct the development of proactive approaches to prevent future issues. § Oversee development and implementation of robust IT support workflow schedules to manage and prioritize preventive maintenance of application assets. § Ensure there is continuous preventive maintenance of all hardware and software assets as well as ongoing updates to improve application functionality. § Ensure processes are in place to prevent application outages and to restore outages efficiently and with minimal disruptions during system-wide changes and application deployments. § Oversee the development of application change requests that may result from application incident management activities in coordination with development teams to ensure business continuity planning and change management. § Maintain strong working relationships with application vendors and serve as the primary point of contact across IT, LCGPA end-users, and vendors, in order to efficiently resolve application incidents. § Maintain market awareness of new applications and associated technologies; make product procurement recommendations based on reviewed research, benchmarks and best practices.
End-user Application Support Management
§ Approve and manage criteria for user access to applications based on the job levels and defined IT policy. § Oversee proper delivery of end-user communication and training on using new IT applications (inhouse or outsourced). § Oversee the provision of application support (after helpdesk intervention) and work closely with the IT helpdesk to address any application problems that may arise with end-users.
Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports
§ Direct the development of the IT Application Support Department policies, systems, processes and procedures to ensure the consistent application and ease of operations for subordinates. § Conduct a thorough review and analysis reports submitted by subordinates and make timely decisions to ensure enhancing the IT Application Support Department performance, mitigating highlighted risks and achieving LCGPA’s objectives.
