We are currently looking for a highly experienced PICU Specialist to join Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital.
Capital Health operates two healthcare facilities with further developments underway in the region; The Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH) a specialty hospital that provides acute and long-term rehabilitation care, along with inpatient, outpatient and Home Health Rehabilitation; and Health Shield Medical Center - a multi-specialty healthcare facility and a one-day surgery with state-of-the-art Operating Theaters. Capital Health also manages the clinic at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Abu Dhabi.
• Develop and perfect secondary care and sub-specialty skills in the field of Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine.
• Exercise and achieve the utmost accuracy in diagnostics and therapy using medical advice from colleagues of other medical disciplines in order to achieve optimum outcomes.
• Develop an understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine, coordinate with different medical health professionals that are involved in patient’s care.
• Practice a compassionate and humanistic interaction with patients, families and colleagues; be able to present procedures to patients and families in an understandable and professional way.
• Demonstrate technical skills in hands-on procedures.
• Attend and participate in educational activities - multidisciplinary conferences, research conferences and grand rounds conferences.
• Reflects and practices quality improvement in performing procedures, develops and follows medical pathways and meets standards in terms of patient safety, patient and family rights, assessment of patients.
• Supports and actively participates in JCI accreditation of the hospital.
• Use the concept of “Critical Thinking” during the process of medical decision making.
• Develop and demonstrate an understanding of cost containment.
• Document medical services in a way that satisfies the requirements of third party payers (health insurers) and allows the transformation (coding) to Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPTs).
• Respect confidentiality and patient privacy, make sure that patients are not being exploited in cases such as invasion of privacy.
• Is aware of ethical and legal issues which arise during patient care.
• Represents the hospital effectively to external patients and relatives, local regulatory bodies, and any other internal or external.
• He /she examines the patient, obtains medical history, and use of diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures.
• He / she provides and maintains life support and airway management.
• He / she coordinates and directs work of nurses, medical technicians, and other health care providers.
• He / she is responsible for patients referred to the Critical Care unit for investigation and treatment. He / she is responsible for the appropriate management of these patients.
• He / she participates in the Critical Care on-call rota.
• He / she may be required to consult in various areas of the hospital outside the Critical Care unit and Operating Departments.
• He / she is expected to work as part of the consultant team within Critical Care.
• He / she undertakes the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients and in the running of the clinical departments.
• He / she actively participates in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, including Nursing and Professions Allied to Medicine.
• He / she participates in Departmental Audit Meetings and Postgraduate
• He / she is able and willing to do shift work and on-calls.
