SRS is seeking an Ecological consultant to join the Dubai team of a specialist environmental consulting company. The primary focus of the role we are currently hiring includes the provision of Baseline Surveys, Ecological Impact Assessments and EIA studies across a broad range of sectors as well as to support delivery of related environmental management requirements, such as Environmental Management Plans.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have a combination of field survey experience within the Middle East and the ability to write / present technical reports (EcIA, EIA, Baseline Surveys etc) to clients with the support of colleagues and will over time also assume responsibility for commercial input to and development of future projects. You will coordinate with a range of colleagues to develop EIA and environmental management inputs from other specialists within the company. This shall include the requirement to liaise with both clients, input from experts in other disciplines and regulators in the delivery and presentation of contracted work and to conduct assessments, inclusive of any necessary field and baseline aspects.

Profile and Requirements
We are looking for candidates having English as their first language or with a solid history of report-writing in English, combined with a minimum of a BSc in a relevant environmental / ecology / biology subject. Strong field survey experience and the ability to self-manage the timely delivery of projects is essential. EIA-focussed qualifications, such as courses such as offered by IEMA or degrees, are advantageous. More than three years professional experience with an environmental consultancy firm is desirable as this enables candidates to “hit the ground running” but we would love to hear from anyone with a passion for developing their career and a set of transferable skills.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
• Practical knowledge of ecological monitoring and its role in EIA – preferably combined with knowledge of the Middle East’s habitats and species.
• An understanding of the approach and process steps of environmental impact assessment.
• Knowledge of UAE & regional environmental regulations and their application
• Good communication skills including confidence to articulate and present EIA study findings within a workshop environment and interact with the regulatory authorities as necessary
• Strong report writing skills – with a proven history of preparing technical reports in English
• A flexible and dynamic approach including the ability to work independently as well as coordinate within a team
