LEAD BIG DATA ENGINEER. You will be working for a company that provides pharmaceutical and academic researches all the information they need to help them make decisions and will be helping provide them with searchable databases. You will be working to create a modern platform for all of their services. What you will be doing:
• Work as part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional, agile product development team to develop our new data platform from the ground up. • Lead and motivate your team to consistently high standards in engineering practices and delivery of quality software
• Line management tasks for your direct reports, e.g.:
• appraising performance
• supporting their professional development
• helping them to resolve technical and non-technical problems
• Mentor and train junior or less experienced software engineers, ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles • Integrate with wider enterprise systems using service oriented architecture • Write well tested, documented and peer-reviewed code that complies with agreed architectural and design standards • Work with Product Managers and QA to ensure software is high quality and meets user requirements • Assisting with the recruitment for developers on the extended team. Skills / Experience • NoSQL databases (Cassandra) • Hadoop HDFS • Apache Spark • Algorithm Development • Machine Learning • Java / Scala • Natural Language Processing (NLP) • Stochastic Processing · Analytics • A track record of problem-solving in the human and communication aspects of software product development • A positive, constructive approach with an emphasis on collaboration and good execution • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Experience with agile engineering practices such as Scrum, continuous Integration, automated testing and deployment • Fluent English (spoken and written form) Desirable Skills / Experience • Experience of people management and team building
المهارات
• Experience or education in chemistry, pharmacology or the life sciences
• AWS Development/Deployment experience (CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, CHEF or similar)
• Linux experience
• Familiarity with and efficient use of standard tools as GIT, Artifactory, Jira, Confluence • Scala
