About the Position:
§ Provision of laboratory polymer testing expertise to the R&D;department’s product development and research projects and activities. Meet the testing requirements of internal and fee-paying external customers. Organisation, supervision, and training of technicians to deliver reliable test data.
Major Duties/ Responsibilities:
§ Advising technical project leaders on appropriate testing work in support of projects.
§ To develop the department’s laboratory expertise in polymer product testing.
§ To set up testing capability to ASTM, ISO, IEC, and internal testing standards.
§ To implement and maintain the working practices of ISO 17025 and 9001.
§ To provide practical product and application support for the development of polymer products in foams, sheets, films, compounds, injection mouldings, profile extrusions, fibres, wire and cable, footwear, and packaging applications.
§ To provide expertise in testing for mechanical, hydrolysis resistance, weathering, ageing, transport properties, flame retardancy, electrical, optical, thermal properties, adhesion, etc. properties that are relevant to polymer applications.
§ To provide interpretation of polymer phenomena in products such as crystallization, orientation, residual stresses, damping, creep, fatigue, frozen in stress, ESCR, etc.
§ To provide scientific understanding of the processing - structure – property relationships of polymer products.
§ To confer knowledge on polymer materials including LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, POE, PP, EVA, PU, and PBT grades.
المهارات
About the Candidate:
§ Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Engineering.
§ 15 years industrial experience in polymer product development and testing.
§ Has worked in industrial R&D;, commercial service laboratory, technical consultancy, or customer technical service roles.
§ Experienced in the working practices of ISO 17025 and 9001.
§ Has worked in testing of polymer products and applications.
§ Understands physics of polymer materials.
