Duties and Responsibilities
Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Take an active part when needed in special projects such as development of forms, research, KPIs, traces documents and data collection, etc.
Prepare and give lectures and demonstrations to colleagues and other healthcare professionals concerned with orthotics/prosthetics.
Work closely with the supervisors and the department director to ensure the best possible programs for orthotic and prosthetic and clinical outcomes.
Comply with department documentation procedures and environmental health and safety standards .
Ensure that all documentation, measurement charts are correctly filled out and completed within reasonable time (24 hours).
Act efficiently and effectively in carrying out his/her duties.
Responsible for orthotic “off the shelf” provision in the in-patient wards and in the outpatient.
Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss and provides clinical advice relating to the formation of orthotic/prosthetic treatment protocols appropriate to the diagnosis.
Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments whilst functionally evaluating the device on the patient and making adjustments to ensure the best possible fit, function and comfort.
Formulate design specifications for orthotic and prosthetic devices, select materials, takes plaster casts, measurements and drafts.
Rectify plaster models or scanned images.
Assist in the manufacturing process if required.
Ensure that treatment objectives are identified and coordinated with the patient/caregiver to ensure maximum safety and effectiveness
Set goals and timeframes in preparation of discharge planning.
Refer patients back to their physicians for additional functional healthcare services or for further evaluation, when necessary.
Assist in maintaining department inventories and stock levels.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
