Description
We’re seeking a motivated and ambitious Senior Hardware Engineer to join the Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) team in Huntsville, AL. The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for working with government, industry, academia and internal project teams to shape the hardware approach for future ASE systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with government, industry and academic partners to determine the requirements for ASE hardware solutions
Co-ordinate with other engineering disciplines (systems, software, cyber-security, etc.) to establish the optimal approach and architecture for the overall system
Develop documentation to support project acquisition and execution (requirements, RFIs (Request for Information), RFPs (Request for Proposal), design criteria, etc.)
Identify and evaluate candidate hardware standards and solutions
Support to, and oversight of, hardware requirements, design, development, integration, testing and acceptance
Support the development of test capabilities, such as test benches, test labs and integration facilities
Develop and brief technical presentation material
Guide and train other members of the team
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelors and five (5) years of experience; four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree.
Required Security Clearance:
A secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Experience as a Senior Hardware Engineer (or similar role)
Hands-on experience with hardware development
Model-Based Systems Engineering experience (UML, SysML, etc.)
Understanding and experience of implementing applying various open standards, such as Hardware Open Systems Technologies (HOST), Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) and various VMEbus International Trade Association (VITA) standards such as VITA 46 and VITA 65.
Understanding and experience of the DO-254 (Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware) standard, including the associated Design Assurance Levels (DALs)
Understanding and experience of the DO-297 (Integrated Modular Avionics Development Guidance and Certification Considerations) standard
Background in avionics systems
Knowledge and understanding of common military avionics interfaces (e.g. Ethernet, 1553, Serial, Discrete I/O, etc.)
Knowledge and experience of applying various military standards, including MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-810
Knowledge and experience of safety and airworthiness processes (including the Airworthiness Qualification Plan and Airworthiness Qualification Specification)
