Roles and Responsibilities
Legal contract experts supporting all phases (ITO and OTR) of Government contract administration. Projects include negotiations, managing commercial issues, customer and supplier relationships, claims, & disputes.
Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy. Basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Jobs at this level function with some autonomy but are subject to functional practices and precedents or are covered by well-defined policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Uses some judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems. Has ability to prioritize information for data analysis. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) qualification
Minimum 2 years of experience at a large, preferably international, law firm or multinational company’s corporate legal department working on a variety of commercial / business legal matters in the region, including previous experience of drafting, negotiating and closing complex business transactions (i.e. purchase, sale and distribution agreements).
Previous experience in identifying and resolving legal issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls.
Previous experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast paced environment.
Ability to communicate using English and preferably another local language as well.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
Experience of the Power industry
Demonstrated experience providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills
Adaptable/Flexible: Being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in challenging situations
Clear thinking: Simplifying strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information, and communicating priorities clearly and concisely
External focus: Understanding areas of law, regulations, risks, marketplace dynamics, industry trends, and the compliance landscape
