Duties and Responsibilities
Abides by the hospital policies and rules and regulations specific to the department.
Participates in the routine work of the Radiation Therapy Section of the Department including but not limited to:
Radiotherapy treatment planning; calculations of treatment parameters including the imaging of treatment volumes and normal tissues
Clinical dosimetry
Quality Assurance of linear accelerators, and treatment planning systems
Participates in the monitoring of the safe usage of all radioactive sources, in routine calibrations of radiation fields, and in record keeping in accordance with local and international regulations.
Strives to improve his scientific and clinical expertise as well as standard of practice and acquaint himself with any current trend in his field of specialty.
Assist the Consultant Medical Physicist of the Radiation Therapy Section in
The formulation of strategies for the improvement of services provided by the Section.
The supervision of trainees
Ensuring that all implemented Total Quality Management regimes are conducted effectively and assesses the results of the quality assurance monitoring.
Supervises the work of external maintenance contractors and assesses the state of the equipment after any such work.
Keeps abreast of relevant developments in the Radiotherapy field. Relates and applies these developments to finding solutions to clinical problems. To undertake original research to achieve this objective.
Deputizes for his superior as required.
Strives to improve his scientific and clinical expertise as well as standard of practice and acquaint himself with any current trend in his field of specialty.
Support the quality assurance activities of the team and actively contribute to the identification of needed improvement in current service provision and strategies
Participates in the Environmental Safety Awareness, i.e. CPR, Fire and Safety, Infection Control and major disaster plan of the hospital as indicated.
Ensures continuous quality improvement and patient safety with full compliance to Joint Commission International (JCI) and Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) Standards.
Participates and contributes to Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, System Improvement, System Control, Staff Development and Fire and Safety Practices.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English.
