Summary
Manages certain aspects of a Biomedical Physics Service Program in one area of biomedical physics such as radiation therapy, diagnostic radiology or nuclear medicine.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Performs medical physics procedures. These may include treatment planning for cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy and quality assurance of radiation emitting-devices.
2. Helps with the commissioning and calibration of radiation machines and devices.
3. Suggests means of improving the treatment and/or diagnosis of patients; this may involve the design of devices or unique changes in methodology.
4. Maintains physics instrumentation needed for beam measurements and direct dosimetry.
5. Assist senior medical Physicists and Section Head in assigned research areas and the implemenstation of health physics aspect of medical physics.
6. Participates in Department/Unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan preferred.
7. Participates in self and other’s education, training and development as applicable.
8. Follows all KFSH&RC;related policies and procedures.
Education
PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Physics or related discipline from a recognized institution. Certification by the American College of Radiology or equivalent is preferred.
Experience Required
One (1) year with PhD, six (6) years with Master’s degree or ten (10) years with Bachelor’s degree.
For board certified, no experience required with PhD, four (4) years with Master’s degree.
