Our clients are at very different stages in grasping the challenges they are facing and are grappling with a need to not just set targets, but also to find real and tangible solutions to their problems. We’re looking for a senior Sustainability & Climate Action Consultant who can perform as “seller”, working with our Growth & Sales team to ensure that sustainability and climate action is a core part of our value proposition, and as a “doer”, contributing to the delivery of sustainable solutions in collaboration with our program and project teams.
As Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will be an integral member of Jacobs Growth and Sales team in the Middle East, working closely with the Client Account Managers, sales leads and regional market leaders to ensure that sustainability and climate action are an integral part of the Growth and Sales process, and a key element of our value proposition.
You will support the growth and sales team in managing sales opportunity information in Salesforce Client Success Platform (CSP) to accurately reflect the portfolio’s pipeline, opportunities, and financial forecasting. Also, you will support other key sales activities including but not limited to pipeline reviews, opportunity Deep Dives, client/account reviews, and Go/No-Go process. We will look to you to be the primary point of contact within the team to provide input, guidance, best practices, information, and resources related to sustainability and climate action.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with select related clients or client teams in the region, develop client account plans, identify leads for potential opportunities, develop and lead technical proposals and present solutions to clients.
In addition to the focus on growth and sales, you will contribute your sustainability experience and expertise in the delivery of programs and projects and support the cross-market strategic consulting team in the Middle East. This support will focus on sustainable urban development, sustainable buildings, circular economy, climate risk and resilience, community, and social value, decarbonization, sustainable procurement, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll be delivering these services to clients with a particular focus on infrastructure, utilities, cities, and government sector context.
You’re a positive communicator with strong influencing ability, who’s able to lead projects without direct supervision, able to coordinate the work of a small team, or deliver exceptional results independently. The position will preferably be based in Saudi Arabia with significant travel within the region, in particular to the UAE.
Desired Candidate Profile

General:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability Management, Environmental Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or other related field
• 10-15 years of relevant experience providing advisory and practical support in embedding sustainability within organizations and projects
• Previous experience working in the Middle East region
• Experience in project management and delivery on sustainability projects and programs working in a client-facing role
• Proven experience leading and motivating teams. Strong facilitation, team building and collaboration skills
Growth & Sales Qualifications and Experience:
• Detailed understanding of and experience with relationship-based sales processes, systems, and tools
• Demonstrable experience of developing and executing strategies to win new work
• Excellent client relationship management skills, a well established reputation with key contacts in the industry
• Advanced English writing, editing and proofreading skills, with an eye towards sales messaging, themes, proposal aesthetics, quality, and content
• Professional experience in directing proposal teams, helping drive the sales/proposal process, and coordinating/negotiating with teams both in person and remotely
• Well organized, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently and engage with various stakeholders/reviewers
• Team player with great interpersonal skills and ability to develop, nurture, and maintain relationships at all levels with the company
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in easy to read and compelling text
• Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and solve complex problems
• Thorough knowledge of desktop publishing software, including Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat; proficiency in specialized applications, such as Adobe InDesign, a plus
• Ability to travel (post pandemic)
Sustainability Qualifications and Experience:
• Knowledge and experience of addressing challenges and opportunities in a wide range of sustainability and climate action topics such as: sustainability management, sustainable urban development, circular economy, resource efficiency, decarbonization, energy management, community and social value, life cycle assessment, and sustainable procurement, etc.
• Subject matter expertise and the ability to provide thought leadership in one or more specific sustainability topic
• Knowledge of international and local sustainability standards such as LEED, BREEAM, Green Star, GSAS, or Estidama, Mostadam (KSA), etc.
• Engagement and coordination with government authorities and key stakeholders
• Engagement and coordination with non-governmental entities (NGOs)
• Engagement with industry leaders on sustainable solutions
• Work in collaboration with multi-discipline teams to deliver sustainability and environmental outcomes on projects
• Ability to analyze and present data
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Assertiveness and willingness to drives projects forward proactively
• Ability to work under pressure to delivery quality deliverables within a specific timeline
• Experiencing of identifying and resolving client challenges
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Professional experience writing and developing reports, presentations and delivering workshops for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Supervisory experience
• Current membership of a relevant internationally recognised professional institute e.g. CIWM , IEMA (AIEMA/PEIMA/CEnv.), AIA, RIBA, etc.
• Accreditation in one or more sustainability certification system: LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP); BREEAM, WELL AP, etc.
